LAKE SUCCESS, N.Y., Feb. 27, 2014 – Broadridge Financial Solutions (NYSE:BR) today announced an agreement with Pension Data Resources, Inc. (PensionPlanet.com), a leading provider of Retirement and Health & Welfare Plan Sponsors data, to provide Broadridge clients with detailed information about plan sponsors found in publically reported DOL/IRS Forms 5500. This new offering, called Retirement Advisor Intelligence, will be the first product in the industry to link investment activities with detailed plan and advisor information.
The combination of services offered by Broadridge’s Access Data, which provides unprecedented insights and data services to recordkeepers and mutual fund firms, and PensionPlanet’s retirement plan information, will provide Broadridge’s clients with the industry’s most comprehensive view of the defined contribution marketplace. In addition, Access Data’s clients will have direct access to PensionPlanet’s “Navigator” Asset & Investment Fund Database, which will allow them to drill down into comprehensive investment position data and the details of over 90,000 ERISA qualified plans.
The development of Retirement Advisor Intelligence is a further expansion of Access Data’s services for retirement providers, and another example of Broadridge’s commitment to creating transparency in the industry among recordkeepers and mutual fund firms. Last month, Access Data announced that it had been selected to provide defined contribution investment only (DCIO) fund reporting to fund firms offering products on The Standard recordkeeping platform.
Defined contribution assets are forecast to grow to $6.7 trillion over the next five years, representing a significant opportunity for mutual fund firms, retirement plan providers and distributors to increase assets managed or serviced. The key to unlocking that growth lies in knowing where those opportunities exist. The fastest growth segment for defined contribution assets is generated by the small to medium-sized plan segment supported by independent recordkeeping platforms.
“As part of Broadridge, Access Data is uniquely positioned to provide all firms supporting the defined contribution business – recordkeepers and mutual fund firms – with unprecedented transparency and insight into advisors that are specializing in the retirement business, as well as products and services those advisors are using to grow the assets they manage,” stated Frank Polefrone, Senior Vice President, Access Data. “Combining the plan data and research tools provided by PensionPlanet with our DCIO data services and reporting enables us to identify advisors specializing in the retirement business and provide important information about the retirement business those advisors conduct,” added Mr. Polefrone.
“We are pleased to partner with the Access Data team at Broadridge to provide a combined view of advisors specializing in the retirement business with information about the plans they sell,” said Sam Sarcone, President, Pension Data Resources, Inc. “We view Broadridge as the only firm in the financial services industry with the resources, technology and data services to provide retirement providers detailed information about advisors driving the growth of the defined contribution business, and we are pleased to be part of this unique offering.”
