TSR retrospective
Earlier this year, we launched a number of new and enhanced capabilities to help the industry implement the SEC’s TSR requirements earning our TSR solution the 2024 Nicsa NOVA award for Operational Excellence.
- Automated document composition: Designed for both fund administrators and asset managers, with integrated and automated iXBRL tagging to streamline downstream filing, and the ability to create engaging TSR templates that meet both regulatory and ADA requirements.
- Inline print and digital distribution: Our proprietary, industry leading communication solution improved workflow processes, reduced fund report distribution costs and enhanced the shareholder experience. Unique portfolio level mailings and emails helped create efficiency across registered and beneficial distributions. In the first three months of TSR, Broadridge distributed over 57 million print TSRs and 140 million e-deliveries.
- Enhanced webhosting platform: In addition to improving fund branding and the investor experience, we provide our clients with actionable data via intuitive reports and analysis to show how investors are engaging with hosted regulatory documents.
- Client Portal: We introduced a client portal to upload TSR files and manage periodic distributions. Feedback has been extremely positive, and we are working to expand capabilities for the portal.
- In case you missed it: Broadridge joined industry experts from State Street and JP Morgan Asset Management to discuss TSR best practices and learnings from implementation. You can access the replay of the Nicsa TSR Implementation webinar at: "The Pulse on Tailored Shareholder Reports Implementation: Impacts and Outlooks"
If composition or other elements of Tailored Shareholder Reports continue to be a challenge for your firm, or if you would like to learn more about the client portal, please reach out to your Account Manager.

Need to analyze your shareholder base ahead of a proxy campaign?
When considering or preparing for a proxy campaign, Broadridge can provide you with a thorough analysis of your shareholder base – at no cost - to help create an accurate picture of your shareholder base, a more accurate cost estimation, more effective strategic planning and better allocation of resources and budget. This approach takes the mystery out of your shareholder base by going beyond the simple the number of accounts which misses key information about the makeup of the shareholder base which can be critical in determining the approach, complexity – and cost - of passing a proposal.
As part of the analysis, Broadridge will identify share holdings at the fund level so you can segment and target the shareholders who hold the most shares first. In addition, we examine institutional ownership, which banks/brokers hold significant shares, and the OBO vs NOBO split, and more. These factors will help you better anticipate voting behavior, understand how many accounts need to be targeted to get to passage and ultimately help you decide on your proxy proposals.
